An Overview

The Barony of Castlemere is a chapter of the "Society for Creative Anachronism" in the kingdom of Trimaris, otherwise known as Jacksonville, Florida, with members in the Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, and Clay Counties.

"The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more.(http://www.sca.org)

Castlemere holds competitions yearly to highlight some of the members of our Barony's talents. These Competitions also include the quarterly/biannual Braging Rights Tournaments for both Heavy and Light fighting.

2015 Castlemere Notables

CORNERSTONES OF CASTLEMERE
This token is presented by the Barony every year in February at our anniversary event, "Cutlasses and Corsairs". It is voted on by Barony members during the month of February; Two people, male and female, are chosen as the two people that have made the biggest contribution to the Barony during the year.

CHAMPION TOURNEY
Heavy Weapons Champion:

Champion of Castlemere - A Tourney is run annually, lead by the past year's champion, and the winner becomes Castlemere's Champion for the next year. This comes with it the duty to return or send a proxy to run the tourney the following year. Contact the Senescal in advance if you cannot attend.

DEFENDER TOURNEY
Light Weapons Champion:

A Tourney is run annually, lead by the past year's champion, and the winner becomes Castlemere's Light Weapons Defender for the next year. This comes with it the duty to return or send a proxy to run the tourney the following year. Contact the Senescal in advance if you cannot attend.

YEOMAN COMPETITION
Archery Champion:

A Tourney is run annually, lead by the past year's champion, and the winner becomes Castlemere's Yeoman for the next year. This comes with it the duty to return or send a proxy to run the tourney the following year. Contact the Senescal in advance if you cannot attend.

TAVERN BRAWL
Victor:

A Tavern Brawl is run annually, the victor wins a prize and bears a place in Castlemere's Notables for the year.

BARD OF CASTLEMERE
Bardic Champion:

Bards may present any performance Medievally themed or in the SCA. The first duty of the Bard of Castlemere is to help judge the Warrior Bard competition. The winner is encouraged to wear the baldric proudly, and return next year to run the competition. The competition is held at Cutlasses and Corsairs each year.

WRIGHT OF CASTLEMERE
Art Sci Champion:

The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of the Arts and Sciences Staff and Cloak.

SHIELD TOURNEY
Youth Champion:

The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of the Youth Champion Shield. When passed, the old winner signs their name to it.

WARRIOR BARD OF TRIMARIS
Warrior Bard Champion:

The competition is open to any Trimarian that wishes to represent our kingdom as Warrior Bard (planning to attend Gulf Wars and encourage the troops would be a good aspiration for the Warrior Bard). The Warrior Bard is open to anyone attending the event. Entries should deal with some aspect of the Warrior's life (example: heroes, battles, loving a warrior, training, tall stories, loyalty, knightly virtues) It can original or created by someone else. If an entrant uses someone else's work they must name the source. The winner is encouraged to wear the baldric proudly, and return next year to run the competition.

The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of the Sword of the Warrior Bard of Trimaris (donated by Angus Armstrong).
